For example, one mosque in Toronto was identified, where extremists call on their followers to go up against Christians and Jews.

I find this highly offensive - and these kinds of hateful messages violate the Canadian Charter. I am surprised that our government has not arrested these terrorists yet.

Then again, the National Post writes, the Khadr family (=terrorist scum protected by the Liberal government in Ottawa) belongs to that mosque, as do other al-Qaeda sympathizers. The Saudis are probably also funding the Liberal party.

Multiculturalism

Peaktalk offers up a good analysis of what multiculturalism should be all about.

I especially agree with this part:

As politically incorrect as it may often seem these days, there is nothing wrong with fulfilling the basic human need to identify with and celebrate a culture. It strengthens the individual and allows it to interact with other cultures in a confident manner.

Or when he says:

The problem arises when multiculturalism mutates into cultural relativism, a term best described as downplaying your own culture in order to accommodate other cultures. A great example is the forced description of “Christmas” as “Holidays”, as wishing someone a “Merry Christmas” these days may offend his or her cultural and religious sensitivities. This of course is utter nonsense as it speaks for itself that we should not denigrate, attack or otherwise insult a Muslim or Sikh, but to a priori act as if we have can only lead to a complete negation of our own culture. The term “Christmas” is even for the secular among us a tradition and festive benchmark, “I am dreaming of White Holidays” will wipe away one of the most treasured North American songs and with it an easily identifiable cultural icon.

In Canada, unfortunately, we have taken the path of cultural relativism to the power of 10. We, as Canadians (and that includes only English and French Canadians), need to reconnect with what it really means to be Canadian. And we have to reassert ourselves and our rights, because the Liberal government has taken most of these away from us and handed them to some foreigners on a silver platter (I hear that that Tamil gangsters and terrorists that were arrested in a major raid over a year ago are now back out in the streets of Toronto. I guess Paul Martin's attendance at their fundraiser for terrorists must have helped...).

Canada is a big joke

It seems that Canada is becoming more and more of a big international joke. All the criminals in Toronto today are foreigners (and I have seen a lot of that stuff going down with my own two eyes).

Liberals love having an illiterate populace, because this way they can ensure that these people will always vote Liberal.

To any potential tourist, I have to issue this warning:
If you don't want to get mugged, stabbed, shot or killed, avoid Toronto like the plague. And don't expect to understand the people you come across there either.

If you want to have a good time, travel to Alberta instead. People here represent what's left of English Canada, and you will even find many of your favourite chains and stores (you would'nt find them in eastern Canada, because they are too smart to open stores in a cesspool).

Have you also noticed that Toronto's homeless are mostly English-speaking, born Canadians? They don't receive any help from the government, while the Liberals just throw money at convicted felons brought in from overseas (e.g., a Jamaican drug dealer and killer with a long criminal record who lived in Toronto for 7 years until, thank God, he finally was shot and killed). Charity begins at home. Only once you have helped your own people are you allowed to spread your wealth to other countries and their people. But first get your own affairs in order.

Al-Jazeera crap on a screen in your home soon

Thanks to the terrorist-loving Liberals (remember Paul Martin hanging out with the Tamil Tiger terrorists at a fundraiser?), we will now get Al-Jazeera on cable, whether we like it or not.
For starters, Al-Jazeera is not a real TV channel, but a propaganda tool owned and operated by criminal and terrorist organizations.

For the CRTC to approve that "channel" is criminal in itself. But there are no surprises here. Paul Martin and the Liberals coddle all criminals and terrorists (that's why we have the Khadr scum and all those other Arab bastards living right here in Canada), and now he's even giving them their own "TV" (and thus a tool to better disseminate instructions and future plans to sleeper cells in Canada).

Great! I just hope that Paul Martin will die in a terrorist attack one day. That's the only thing he deserves. Don't get me wrong: I don't wish a terrorist attack on my country, but if there ever is one, I hope that Martin is among the first casualties. That would teach him, and the Liberals, a valuable lesson about crawling up terrorists' asses.

Charge Michael Moore

Michael Moore, the moronic, fat-ass and untalented nobody, tried to sway Canadian voters during our last election campaign by telling Canadians not to vote for Stephen Harper.

By doing so, he violated Canadian law:

According to Part 11, Division 9, section 331 of the Canada Elections Act, it is an offence for "[Any] person who does not reside in Canada [to], during an election period, in any way induce electors to vote or refrain from voting for a particular candidate unless the person is (a) a Canadian citizen; or (b) a permanent resident."

Also according to Section 500 (3) of the same Act "Every person who is guilty of an offence ?is liable on summary conviction to a fine of not more than $2,000 or to imprisonment for a term of not more than six months, or to both."

So, go to www.chargemoore.com and sign the petition that will be submitted to Elections Canada, so that Moore can be charged.

Tax issues

William Watson in the National Post today writes that the Tories will never have a chance of winning, because tax cuts do not matter to the average Canadian so much.

He cites a bunch of numbers, for example saying that the majority of Canadians make less than $25,000 a year and therefore do not shoulder the bulk of income tax.

Perhaps Mr. Watson should think about why this is. In fact, the average Canadian, myself included, has for years kept his income below a certain level on purpose so as to avoid paying even more taxes. This is one of the reasons why productivity is so low in Canada.

Tax cuts would give a much-needed boost to Canada's rate of productivity.

Mr. Watson is clearly too short-sighted for his (and Canada's) own good.

Liberals, follow the example of the British Labour Party

The British Home Secretary (Labour) has introduced drastic changes for immigrants and those wishing to obtain British citizenship:

They have to be congratulated.

Under our laws in Canada, immigrants wishing to become citizens must demonstrate the ability to speak, read and write English or French. However, as a recent example showed, many of our citizens cannot speak English well enough to answer simple questions in a survey (I reported on that - a pre-election poll in the Vancouver area). It is quite clear that the (Liberal) government has been breaking our immigration and citizenship laws by awarding immigration status or citizenship to people that don't even meet the most basic requirements.

Here's a quote from The Guardian:

Not everyone can attain fluency. But at the very least we can ask people to make an effort and to enhance their existing knowledge of English to a workable level and to know what it means to be a British citizen," said Mr Blunkett. Those who pass or complete the courses will be eligible for a citizenship ceremony to mark their achievement.

To take matters even further, Britain will also introduce mandatory tests of "Britishness", because anyone wanting to become a British citizen will have to show that they think and act like a true Briton. Paul Martin does not care about regular Canadians; he only cares about criminals and terrorists from foreign nation.

Also witness his move to fire all Canadian employees at his shipping company, only to replace them with Ukrainians.

Paul Martin does not want to cut taxes for ordinary Canadians, but he himself feels the taxes are too high here, and so he registered his business in the Caribbean.

How's that for hypocrisy?

Machete attack victim on respirator
Hand reattached after assault possibly linked to Sri Lankan gangs

Rene Bruemmer
CanWest News Service

July 6, 2004

MONTREAL - A 24-year-old store clerk whose left hand was cut off in a machete attack will have to wait weeks to find out whether a 10-hour operation to reattach it has been a complete success.

The aggressor, who attacked Uthayageetha Kathirgamanathan on Saturday night as he manned the cash register alone, also tried to cut off his right hand, police said. He failed only because the machete hit bone and fractured the wrist instead.

The victim was also struck in the head several times and lost part of an ear. Despite his injuries, he managed to call 911 and was taken to a hospital.

"He is still missing two fingers on his left hand," said Kangeethan Kathirgamanathan, the victim's brother. "He looks awful. He is cut everywhere."

Whoever is responsible, the brother said he was certain of their nature. "They are evil. They have no hearts."

The family said they had been in an altercation the week before. Members of a Sri Lankan gang broke the windows of their car and stabbed Mr. Kathirgamanathan in the back when he intervened. They warned him they would be back.

Family members said they did not know the reason for the attacks.

"We believe it's linked to an altercation that took place last week," Montreal police Constable Olivier Lapointe said. "A group of young men apparently smashed the windows of the victim's father's car. They told him they were coming after his son next."

Police are waiting for the victim to be taken off a respirator to question him. They have no leads so far.

Little has been heard of Sri Lankan gangs of late in Montreal, other than a shooting in the north end two years ago.

In 1997, Montreal police broke up two gangs that were harassing members of the Sri Lankan community. The anti-gang squad arrested 15 men of Sri Lankan origin for extorting money for protection from Sri Lankan grocery store owners and members of Hindu temples. Others were bullied into giving money to support the Tamil cause for an independent state.

Paul Martin, the drug smuggler

This does not come as a major surprise to me. After all, Paul Martin is known for consorting with terrorist organizations (e.g., Martin attending a fundraiser for the Tamil Tigers) and other underworld figures. I am sure that his company is actively involved in drug smuggling. His company is now registered in Barbados, so they do have relatively easy access to all the various drug cartels from there.

His company also laid off all Canadian employees and replaced them with Ukrainians, who are not exactly known for keeping a distance from criminal activities either.

People of Toronto and Ontario: you really have done a great job re-electing the Liberals. You have in fact voted for a drug smuggler. You really are the most stupid people in the universe.

Canada is doomed

If there is one thing this election has demonstrated, it is the fact that Ontario, and especially Toronto, is a write-off. Even after having been assaulted by the provincial Liberal government with broken promises, which came on top of the criminal activities of the federal Liberals, people in Ontario decided that they wanted more of the same.

Torontonians still seem to live the fiction of “Toronto, the good”. Frankly, I fail to see any redeeming qualities about Toronto: the city, which once was the economic hub of Canada, has deteriorated into a cesspool of daily shootings, stabbings, squalor, illiteracy and, generally, a lack of common sense.

I lived in Toronto for many years (too many years, in fact), and I have seen it all. I still remember the days when Toronto was truly “Toronto the good”. Those were the days when people would actually line up at bus stops in an orderly fashion. But then, the floodgates were opened by the Liberals in 1993, opening the doors to more immigrants and refugees. People in Toronto only too quickly cast aside all sense of decency and politeness and followed the example set by these newcomers: now you’re lucky if you don’t get stabbed by some nut job, just so he can get on the bus first.

I lived in a neighbourhood with at least four schools within easy walking distance of each other. At lunch time, especially, the neighbourhood was crawling with school kids of all ages. They would hang around the local strip mall, harassing people and making a general mess of things. Even 7-year-olds would come up to you and demand money or cigarettes. So, you can easily tell that their parents don’t really give a damn about them and what they’re up to.

Crime is rising fast in Toronto – in fact, walking through Toronto, you’d better have a knife or a gun on you if you cherish your life. I would even go so far as to advise any potential tourist not to visit Toronto. New York is a much safer place to visit.

The fact of the matter is that Toronto has been overrun by people who, by all rights, should have never been allowed to immigrate to Canada. I am not against immigration at all. I also believe that legitimate refugees need our help.

We have very clear laws when it comes to immigration and refugees. But since the Liberals came to power in 1993, these laws have been laughed at by those civil servants appointed by the Liberals. You see, it has been the Liberals’ policy to fill this country with people that don’t even meet the most basic requirements under immigration laws, because statistically it has been shown that these people, once they have obtained their Canadian citizenship, will vote Liberal (in return for the generous handouts and assistance they have received, which includes Liberal judges that let them off even after committing serious crimes).

Let me give you a few examples:

The law says that you must achieve a certain number of points in your application to immigrate to Canada. To obtain these points, you must be able to speak at least one of Canada’s two official languages, you must pass a medical exam, you must possess a skill that is needed in Canada and, above all, you must not have a criminal record.

About two years ago, a Jamaican gangster was killed in Toronto. As it turned out, he had been in Canada – legally! – for about seven years. He was allowed to immigrate to Canada despite the fact that he had a criminal record long enough to be wrapped around this planet several times over. While in Canada, he continued his life of crime, assaulting and killing Canadians.

My own local coffee shop was the scene of several crimes: shootings, stabbings, drug deals, theft, etc. Who were the perpetrators? Caribbeans, East-Europeans, Sri Lankans, and so on. Locals were just disgusted with what was going on.

One group of Sri Lankans, in particular, hung out at the coffee shop around the clock. Clearly, they had no jobs to go to. Instead, they were engaged in shady deals and transactions in the parking lot. One of them actually had $160,000 in cash to buy himself a farm north of Toronto. Where did that money come from? Well, you have three guesses.

Remember Paul Martin when he attended a fundraiser for the terrorist group of the Tamil Tigers a few years ago? Well, that’s why these people can pursue their various operations in Canada with impunity. And the people of Toronto have re-elected Martin despite his strong ties with terrorists and other criminals. Just great.

Having lived among the people of Toronto, I can honestly say that they are “as stupid as a bag of hammers” (to quote none other than Jean Chrétien himself).

The sad part is that Chrétien’s plan (of importing Liberal supporters from around the world, regardless and in violation of immigration laws) seems to have worked. We now have a huge contingent of “Canadians” in this country who are now citizens and therefore allowed to vote. Again, the law has been broken. To obtain your citizenship you have to demonstrate that you can speak English and/or French at a functional level. Yet, as I reported earlier, there are many so-called citizens who can’t speak English – they can’t even answer questions in simple English as part of a pre-election survey (as happened in Vancouver recently).

By awarding Canadian citizenship to these people, our government has broken the law, handing this precious document to people who don’t meet the criteria defined for citizens of this once great country.

Since they don’t speak English, the Liberals supply them with interpreters who instruct them to vote Liberal – the party that looks out for them. So, no surprise then that Toronto has voted Liberal. After all, you don’t really find any real Canadians in Toronto anymore, only products of the Liberal brainwash machinery.

The Liberals seem hell-bent on destroying Canada and handing it over to other foreign powers. English and French Canadians are being discriminated against on a regular basis. In Toronto, you can no longer wish people a Merry Christmas. Oh no! I am sorry, but Canada was founded on Christian principles, and it is our right to maintain our CANADIAN traditions.

There was a time when immigrants to Canada were instructed as follows: Canada adopts, but you must adapt! In other words, while you are free to speak whatever language you choose and practise any religion of your choice at home or outside the public sphere, you must still give it your best effort to become a productive and integrated member of Canadian society (i.e., for starters, you must be able to speak the language of the land).

The idea of a multicultural society is based on the notion that people from other parts of the world can settle down here in Canada and share their traditions with us, while we show them how to be good and decent Canadians.

Unfortunately, reality paints a different picture: immigrants no longer speak the language of the land (and make no effort to ever learn it either), they keep to themselves and show no interest at all in becoming productive members of our society. This is not what multiculturalism was supposed to be.

Even many immigrants are concerned about the current status-quo. They are afraid that they will all be painted with the same brush. Many of our immigrants are hard-working people, but they are usually not found in places like Toronto, Montréal or Vancouver, but in Calgary. Yes, we do have a large immigrant population and visible minorities, but ours know they have to make an effort if they are to succeed in Alberta. Even our taxi drivers speak passable English (quite unlike Toronto, where you are lucky if you find one driver that actually understands your directions).

The immigrants living in Alberta should serve as a role model for all immigrants across Canada: Canada has adopted you, but it is your duty to adapt! Also note that our immigrants in Alberta also vote Conservative, and not Liberal, because they too know that the Liberal Party is, in fact, a criminal organization.

This election has also shown that Alberta needs to extricate itself from Canada. Western alienation is a reality, even more so now that Paul Martin has openly and repeatedly insulted, maligned and lied about Alberta and its great people.

There is no doubt in my mind that we will see a separatist movement spring to life in Alberta. This will begin by completing the “firewall” that is supposed to shield us from Ottawa and that may include such necessary steps as opting out of the federal income tax system and discontinuing all equalization payments to the rest of Canada.

Canada’s economic centre is Alberta, not Ontario. Our people are the best educated people in the country, and Alberta is 40% richer than the rest of Canada. Without Alberta, Canada would be reduced to a third-world country.

I have also heard that a lot of Canadians across the country are now seriously considering leaving Canada, moving to the US or the UK. They are rightfully scared of a Liberal-NDP coalition that will bring with it enormous tax increases and unnecessary spending. If you think that the brain drain to the States has been bad so far, just wait and see what will happen now.

Many economists, both in Canada and overseas, have long been complaining about Canada’s low rate of productivity. This has many different factors: companies employing people who don’t speak English, thus making work processes that much harder and slower – and more flawed; people working and earning less on purpose so as to avoid ending up in a higher tax bracket.
With the Liberals and the NDP working together, it is quite clear that international investors will no longer be interested in Canada. In fact, foreign direct investment in Canada has already dropped by 70% (what’s left of FDI these days is predominantly directed to Alberta, and not Ontario or any other part of Canada).

Alberta’s economy will keep on booming, but the rest of Canada will go down fast under the Liberal/NDP mafia. Anyone doing business or living in Canada only has the idiots of Toronto and Ontario to thank for that.

My personal hope is that Québec will separate, because this will strengthen our case for separation here in Alberta and will put paid to Ottawa and the Liberal mafia once and for all. Canada as such only exists on paper anyway. It’s a fiction.

Disgusted!

I am just disgusted with the Maritimes and Ontario (in particular, Toronto).

I lived in Toronto long enough to know that the people there are no longer real (and English or French-speaking) Canadians. The city is overcrowded with "allophones" who make no effort at all to integrate and become productive members of Canadian society. In Toronto these days, it's almost impossible to do your shopping, banking or whatever without the help of a translator. That's disgusting, and as an English Canadian I felt thoroughly discriminated against. The true English Canada is no longer found out east, but only in Alberta.

I was also shocked to read in the newspaper last week that a pre-election survey in the Vancouver area could not be conducted properly, because the people polled did not understand enough English to answer those (simple!) questions. Naturalized citizens are required to speak English and/or French at a functional level. How come these people have been given their citizenship when they can't speak English at all? How are they supposed to make an informed choice as CANADIAN citizens? That stinks.

The Liberals under Chrétien did their best to circumvent all rules under immigration laws and have admitted people to Canada that don't even meet the most basic requirements for immigration to Canada. Why? Because they will vote Liberal, and their little plan, so it seems, has worked.

Remember, people of Toronto and Ontario: the Liberals consort with terrorist organizations (remember Paul Martin at a fundraiser for the Tamil Tigers?), and clearly the Liberals are now the party that acts as a "refuge" for anyone with a criminal or crooked inclination. The fact that Toronto is completely Liberal shows me and the rest of Canada that you have a lot of crooked and criminal elements living in your city.

Alberta will now complete its firewall (which will and/or should include: opting out of the federal income tax system, opting out of the Canada Health Act and stopping all equalization payments to the rest of Canada). Alberta has the best educated people in all of Canada, is 40% richer than the rest of Canada and 10% richer than the American average. Without us, you guys will be left to simmer in your own mess. The rest of Canada will become a third-world country (which Toronto already is - just look at the squalor and the crime rate). Good riddance, I say to the rest of Canada.

Ralph Klein will call for an election this fall to cement his mandate for a firewall (and eventual independence). The radio talks shows out here in Calgary today were also filled with callers saying that the time has come for Alberta to separate. Just as Québec is the fortress of true French Canada, Alberta is the home of English Canada.

What's going to happen next?

Premier Ralph Klein will call for an election this fall to firm up his mandate to complete the firewall.

This will and/or should include the following:

1. That province, and in particular, Toronto, is populated by people that, technically speaking, should not even be in Canada: Arabs, Jamaicans, Africans, Pakis, Sri Lankans, East-Europeans, Asians, etc.

I lived in Toronto long enough to see that all the crimes are regularly committed by these people, but thanks to the Liberals, who protect all these "immigrants" (quotation marks to reflect the fact that all these people were admitted by Liberal civil servants even though they do not meet the legal requirements for legal immigration to Canada, such as language skills).

Naturally, these crooks and criminals will always vote for the Party of All Crooks, the Liberals.

For decent Canadians, of which there are none in Toronto, there is only possible solution: Alberta will complete its firewall and eventually separate from Canada (and so will Québec). The problem is that the rest of Canada will be screwed without Alberta; the rest of Canada will become a third-world country without Alberta (Toronto, for the most part, is already a third-world country, thanks to all those "immigrants" who have successfully turned that once beautiful city into the same pile of garbage and crap that they left behind in their dirty countries such as India, Africa, Middle East, etc).

But all those bleeding hearts in Toronto will pay a dear price for all this: thanks to Chrétien, and the Liberals, you have terrorists living among you all over the city. Very soon, and there is no doubt, they will commit terrorist acts right there in Toronto, but don't come crying to us then. You asked for it, and you got it.

I will spit on every Ontarian that sets foot here in Alberta from now on.

Atlantic Canada: they should have their heads examined

What else must Liberals do to bring Atlantic Canadians to their senses? This guy hits all the right notes and explains in very simple terms why only fools will vote Liberal on June 28:

>

> My name is Alan Robberstad I am a Canadian.

> One voter out of millions of Canadian voters.

>

> Paul Martin is no friend of mine.

> Liberal governments have not made my life any better.

> Liberal governments have made the future worse for my children.

>

> Jean Chretien and the Liberal Party became Prime Minister many years ago.

> Guess who was the Liberal Finance Minister.....Paul Martin...LEST WE

> FORGET Since 1993

>

> (1) My taxes have increased.

> (2) My family's share of the national debt has increased.

> (3) My personal expenses have increased.

> (4) My waiting time to see a doctor has increased.

> (5) My concerns for my family's safety have increased.

> (6) My costs to educate my children have increased.

> (7) Government interference in my life has increased.

> (8) My personal debt has increased.

> (9) My income has stayed more or less the same.

> (10) My savings have decreased.

> (11) The buying power of my dollar, in Canada, has decreased.

> (12) The value of my dollar, in the U.S., has decreased.

> (13) My trust of elected officials has decreased.

> (17 )My dreams for a better future for my kids, in Canada, have disappeared.

>

> That is my story since the Liberals came to power.

>

> I am not voting for Paul Martin's Liberals.

> I am voting against Paul Martin and his Liberal Party on June 28, 2004.

>

> I am voting for Stephen Harper and the Conservative Party.

>

> Do I like the Conservatives?

> Not particularly......I don't really like Politics.

> I am not political by nature.

> I am not passionate about politics.

> I am a middle age guy (48).

> I live in a small house on a fairly quiet street in Edmonton.

> I have a wife, Kathy, and two children (ages 19 and 17).

> I have no pets.

> I am a middle class man.

> I don't usually say too much.

>

> Until now.

>

> Now I am going to say something!

>

> In 35 of the past 37 years, Canada has been ruled by

> (1) Pierre Trudeau - a multi-millionaire lawyer from Quebec.

> (2) Brian Mulroney - a multi-millionaire lawyer from Quebec.

> (3) Jean Chretien - a multi-millionaire lawyer from Quebec.

> (4) And now we are going to vote for Paul Martin???? - a

> multi-millionaire lawyer from Quebec???

>

> The leader of the Conservative party, Stephen Harper, is

> (1) Not a lawyer.

> (2) Not a multi-millionaire.

> (3) Not from Quebec.

>

> Stephen Harper says that the Conservative party will

> (1) Reduce my taxes.

> (2) Pay off the national debt as fast as they can.

> (3) Shrink the size and influence of the federal government.

>

> That's good enough for me.

> I'm going to give the Conservative party a chance with my vote.

>

> But wait!

> Paul Martin is now saying the same thing.

> My mother told me forty years ago "Fool me once - shame on you.

> Fool me twice - shame on me!"

>

> The Liberals have had 34 years to be financially responsible.

> Remember, Jean Chretien was Trudeau's Finance Minister.

> Remember also, Paul Martin was Jean Chretien's Finance Minister .

> These people have been raising my taxes for thirty four years.

> They have been mis-spending my tax dollars for 34 years.

>

> 34 years!

>

> And now Paul Martin says he'll stop taxing and spending.

> No way.

>

> Thank you for reading my story so far!

>

> Why am I telling my story to you?

>

> Although I feel alone, I know that I am not alone.

> Your story may be similar to mine.

> And you may also feel alone.

> One small voter in the midst of millions of voters.

>

> What can you and I do together to change things?

>

> Here is my idea.

> Lets you and I join up together.

> Just you and I.

> Together.

> As a small team of two.

>

> How can you and I fight a huge political machine?

>

> You and I have two things that we can use

> (1) Our individual personal connections.

> (2) The Internet.

>

> The Internet is supposed to be this global zing tool, right?

> Let's put it to use.

>

> I have 27 Canadians in my personal e-mail address book.

> I am sending this e-mail to each of them.

>

> I'm asking you to do two things

> (1) Forward this e-mail to every Canadian in your own address book.

> (2) Vote against Paul Martin and the Liberal Party on June 28.

>

> Vote for the Conservative candidate in your riding.

>

> I have probably written this e-mail too late.

> As I said I am not politically adroit.

> I feel like Peter Finch, in the 1976 movie "Network", when he shouted "I'm mad as hell and I'm not going to take this anymore!"

>

> Please, forward the e-mail RIGHT NOW!!

>

> As I type these last few words the voting begins in less than 18 days.

> 432 hours till voting begins.

> I hope the Internet is as fast as some people claim it is.

>

> This may not work.

> This e-mail may "fizzle out" and go nowhere.

> But you and I will have tried, won't we have?

>

> My best wishes to you.

> My best wishes to Canadians everywhere.

>

> My thanks to David Stokes from Toronto He actually wrote this just (5)

> days before the last federal election in 2000.

> Fool me once - shame on you.

> Fool me twice - shame on me!"

>

Criminal Liberals

This article from the Star Phoenix says it all. I could not have said it any better.

Enjoy:

There's only one issue in this looming federal election. The Liberals have to be punished for their corruption. All the rest of it is by the way.

The governing Liberals were caught systematically looting the public treasury. They gave $100 million of our money, at least, to their pals. This was money we sent to Ottawa to pay for health care and foreign aid and equipment for our soldiers. Instead, it disappeared into a swamp of Liberal corruption.

Time to drain the swamp. Because, if we don't, it will sink us all.

That the Liberals are reportedly ahead in the national polls is a measure of how twisted the whole country has become under their leadership. It's as if we're suffering from some kind of political battered wife syndrome. Here we are at the police station with a black eye and a fat lip and we're not only refusing to press charges, we're ready to take back the guy who did it.

Of course, the Liberals have promised to change. These are the new Paul Martin Liberals, we're told. Martin has vowed to get to the bottom of the sponsorship scandal. Why, he more than anyone else in the country wants to find out who was responsible! But not until after the election, of course.

Here we see the Liberal priorities: Power first, then accountability.

Let's not forget, Martin was finance minister when all that money disappeared. He was the senior minister from Quebec, the scene of the crime. He sat on the Treasury Board that approved all federal spending. If he didn't notice $100 million gone missing, if he didn't notice Quebec Liberal hacks suddenly awash in money, he should have. Even by profligate federal standards, that's a lot. A wad that size doesn't just slip through the cracks.

Now Martin asks us to trust him. He's totally different from Jean Chretien, he insists. But Martin's cynicism suggests he and Chretien have much in common.

For example: Scant weeks ago, Martin was proclaiming the reduction of western alienation to be his highest priority. If the West was as alienated at the end of his term as it was at the beginning, he'd consider himself a failed prime minister. That was then. Now, in order to win votes in Ontario, Martin is vilifying Ralph Klein, the most popular and successful of western premiers. Never mind that this is a federal election and that Klein is a provincial politician. Never mind, either, that Klein represents the people of Alberta. If he's the bogeyman, what are they?

More alienated is what they are. Alienated and angry, now, too. But if that's what it takes for Paul Martin to hang onto power, that's what he'll do. As with the sponsorship scandal, maybe he'll get around to assuaging western alienation after the election.

It's a bit much, too, for Martin to be attacking Klein on the issue of health care. The federal Liberals had the last 11 years to fix health care, and waiting lists only got longer. Now, the best they can do is vilify Alberta for trying where they failed. What a pathetic excuse for a health-care policy.

It goes on and on. This is the fourth successive election campaign in which the Liberals have promised a national child-care plan. A political parody would have stopped at three.

Then there's the billion dollars wasted on the failed duck hunter registry. That's a thousand million dollars gone up in smoke, which is bad enough. What's worse is that no one ever has or ever will be held to account. Not unless voters do it on Monday.

But that's just money. What's worse is how the Liberals treat people.

Consider what they did to Francois Beaudoin, former president of the Federal Business Development Bank. Beaudoin was a devoted public servant who significantly improved the bank's profitability. To this end, he quite properly denied a $615,000 federal loan to a shady character who wanted to buy a hotel in Shawinigan. The applicant had a criminal record and no experience in the hotel business. What he did have, however, was the support of then-prime minister Jean Chretien, who happened to own the golf course next door to the hotel. Twice, Chretien telephoned Beaudoin, urging him to reconsider. Beaudoin demurred. His terms of his employment specifically demanded that he reject bad risks.

For doing his job, for refusing to succumb to political pressure, Beaudoin was fired on trumped-up allegations of embezzlement. His severance and pension were withheld. The RCMP raided and searched his home. His reputation was shattered, his life more or less ruined.

Beaudoin sued for wrongful dismissal and won. Court proceedings revealed that there was no basis whatsoever for the accusations. Rather, Beaudoin was found to be the innocent victim of a political vendetta, apparently orchestrated by the Prime Minister's Office.

"The court considers that Mr. Beaudoin suffered an unspeakable injustice as a result of this matter," wrote the presiding judge.

This is a new low, and not just for Canada. What happened to Beaudoin for crossing a Liberal prime minister is worse than anything that happened in the U.S. under the infamous Richard Nixon. The difference is that Nixon was impeached and thrown out of office in disgrace.

Here on the eve of an election, the Liberals are ahead in the polls. You wonder what they have to do before we throw the rascals out.

© The StarPhoenix (Saskatoon) 2004

Qualifications of a Prime Minister, according to Paul Martin

Here's what Paul Martin had to say about the qualifications of a Prime Minister:

A national leader does not lash out at his opponents with absurd allegations that a true leader would not even dignify by repeating.

Interesting. That's exactly what Martin has been doing all along, slinging mud and untruths at Stephen Harper.

A national leader is resolved to build, to uniting and bringing people together. He does not pit people or regions against one another.

Interesting again. Isn't that what Martin has been doing vis-à-vis the West and, in particular, Alberta? Let's not forget that the Liberals' slogan here in Alberta is: Vote the West in!

And let's not forget Martin's attempt at blackmail when he said that the West would be shut out of the "corridors of power" if it voted Conservative.

So, in a nutshell, Paul Martin is the best (and only) example among all the candidates to actually violate his own definitions of a national leader.

Well, we all know that Martin likes to tell lies.

Michael Moore = deluded fool

Michael Moore is not a filmmaker, but a mudslinger. He is also a somewhat phlegmatic figure who is occasionally clumsy when it comes to retail politics.

In the current political climate, however, Mr. Harper's stolid approach undoubtedly is viewed by many Canadians as an asset. While the Liberals are wrapping themselves in the flag and engaging in shrill fear-mongering -- falsely accusing the Conservatives of secret plots to end abortion, buy aircraft carriers, end bilingualism and who knows what else -- Mr. Harper has soberly focused on policy-making. As a result, the Conservative platform is by far the strongest political agenda articulated by the major parties.

Last month, when the federal election was called, we outlined the policy areas that we hoped to see addressed over the course of the campaign. In particular, we urged an agenda that would include giving the provinces more freedom in how they deliver universal health care, ending Ottawa's various corporate and regional welfare programs, lowering taxes, empowering MPs, improving Canada-U.S. relations, strengthening our rusted-out military, dismantling the gun registry and rescinding the gag law. In all these areas, the Conservatives have staked out intelligent positions.

On health care, for instance, they eschew a restrictive reading of the Canada Health Act, which stalled reform under the Liberals. And rightly so: If a province can more efficiently reduce waiting times for a given treatment or diagnostic service by contracting out to a for-profit company, why should it be prevented from doing so?

On the fiscal front, the Conservatives have properly rejected intrusive, big-ticket items such as the Liberals' pie-in-the-sky $5-billion national child care program. Instead, they seek to improve the business climate and spur productivity by lowering taxes. A centrepiece of the Conservative plan involves cutting lavish subsidies to politically connected companies such as Bombardier and applying the proceeds to broad-based corporate tax relief -- exactly what sensible economists recommend. Far better to collect less tax in the first place than to try to redistribute it through corporate handouts. They would also reject the Kyoto global warming protocol, an agreement that even government experts acknowledge would hurt the Canadian economy.

We have been disappointed, to be sure, to see Mr. Harper retreat from his support for America's campaign to free Iraqis from the brutal regime of Saddam Hussein -- an uncharacteristically cynical move by the Conservative leader, doubtless intended to disassociate his party from an unpopular war. In general, however, his view of Canada's role in world affairs is more compelling than those of other party leaders. Most notably, his affection for the United States is refreshingly unapologetic. And his plan to substantially upgrade our military reflects the reality of our post-9/11 world -- a world in which Canada will be called upon to keep the peace and fight rogue powers in Central Asia, the Middle East and perhaps even Africa.

On abortion and gay rights -- two issues manipulated by leftist adversaries to smear the Conservatives -- Mr. Harper has taken a principled stand. Though he has no immediate plans to limit abortions, he has not ruled out private members' bills on the subject. Of course, Canada is a socially liberal country, and any effort to limit abortion rights would go down in flames anyway. But that is not the point: Mr. Harper sees abortion as an issue of conscience, and thus believes that Canada's elected lawmakers should decide the matter in a free vote.

By the same principle, he believes Parliament, not judges, should have the power to define marriage. If you listen to Liberal mouthpieces and much of Canada's activist establishment, this makes Mr. Harper a dangerous extremist. As we see it, Mr. Harper's worst crime is that he has faith in the democratic process.

As for the two other national parties, they have run disappointing campaigns. (We will not detain ourselves with a discussion of Gilles Duceppe's Bloc Quebecois, which -- whatever its other policies -- remains committed to the break-up of our country.) In the televised election debates, the NDP's Jack Layton disavowed any animus toward the United States. Yet he would seek to renegotiate NAFTA, and limit our participation in NATO and NORAD. He would also bloat the federal budget with a variety of massive spending projects, including a utopian plan to dot Canada with 10,000 windmills.

This brings us to the Liberals and, more specifically, to their leader, Paul Martin.

We had high hopes for Mr. Martin when he became Prime Minister last December. We wrote appreciatively, for instance, of his decision to end the sponsorship program and recall the man who once oversaw it, Alfonso Gagliano, from his cushy sinecure as ambassador to Denmark. And like many Canadians, we assumed Mr. Martin would lead the Liberals away from the statist course plotted by his predecessor. This was the man, recall, who had wiped out the deficit during the 1990s as finance minister with hard-headed spending cuts.

Indeed, when Mr. Martin was finance minister, not only did the government produce surpluses, but debt was significantly paid down. And taxes, particularly capital gains taxes, were reduced during a period of strong economic performance.

Today, unfortunately, the Paul Martin who delivered those results does not seem to be the same Paul Martin campaigning for a mandate as prime minister. His Liberal platform will result in higher taxes and bigger government. The Liberals' free-spending plan includes the aforementioned child care program, a 5,000-strong corps of globetrotting peace missionaries and -- yes -- NDP-style windmills. There is nothing in the way of tax relief. Since its release, Mr. Martin has also announced a variety of pork-barrel handouts to various regions, including a half-billion dollars to the Canadian auto industry.

What's more, we have no comfort that the Liberals, if re-elected, would not continue to squander our money. Canadians are clearly furious with them over the sponsorship scandal -- not just with the facts, but also with the way the scandal has been handled. Mr. Martin promised Canadians a speedy investigation that would spare no effort to get at the truth, then allowed his MPs to stonewall the public accounts committee, and even now refuses to release an internal audit that would shine much needed light on the flow of funds. As he's vacillated between his desire to appease the public thirst for knowledge and his party's urge to protect its own, while simultaneously failing to move forward with any decisive action on other policy fronts, it has become clear that he lacks any rudder beyond political convenience.

Despite their commendable track record on the economy, the Liberals' wastefulness and blind dogma on health care have engendered a climate of distrust and impatience in the electorate. And if the polls are accurate, Paul Martin is about to suffer a stinging electoral setback.

Stephen Harper, the man who could well head Canada's next government, is not a revolutionary. If anything, he has adopted a more moderate agenda than was necessary. He is nonetheless the only political leader in Canada with a practical plan that would take this country forward rather than backward. Canadians are fatigued by more than a decade of Liberal government. We feel comfortable with the prospect of Mr. Harper as prime minister. That's why we believe that, for voters seeking positive change, the Conservative party is the only sensible option.

(National Post Editorial)

On health care

It's official now: according to an Environics poll, two-thirds of Canadians support the idea of privately-delivered health care services. Fifty percent are also in favour of allowing Canadians to buy private health insurance and opt out of the public system.

I guess Martin can no longer claim to represent Canadian values, because that poll speaks a very clear language.

Apart from that, the only values the Liberals represent are corruption, crime, dishonesty, lying, cheating, etc. If these are "Canadian values", then we might just as well as close up shop and call it a day.

Air Canada & bilingualism

The Air Canada Public Participation Act is being broken by Air Canada even now. Last year my wife took a flight from Québec City to Toronto, and some of the flight attendants could not speak a single word of French. One Air Canada attendant actually insulted a Francophone passenger, asking him, "What are you doing travelling to Toronto if you can't speak English?"

My wife, a bilingual Québecer, was outraged when she heard that. And that coming from a flight attendant who could only speak English himself.

How come Air Canada hires monolingual flight attendants and assigns them to the most "Francophone" route of all, to and from Québec City, if the Air Canada Public Participation Act requires them to hire bilingual staff?

Given this experience with Air Canada, I don't see why it should be a problem if this Act were to be abolished or modified.

So, if Harper wants to do something about that, he's got my vote.

Paul Martin telling more lies

Paul Martin keeps saying that Stephen Harper's plans of lower taxes and more spending on health care are not feasible. He also says that economists disagree with Harper's stance. In addition, Martin is now attacking all previous Conservative governments and saying that they are lousy in handling finances.

Well, all of this is a big lie - as is usual for Paul The Liar Martin.

The well-known and renowned C.D. Howe Institute, for example, strongly supports Harper's plan and states that they are quite feasible.

Also, Martin forgets that the surpluses he saw as finance minister were due to the excellent economic performance of Ontario under Mike Harris. Yes, folks, he owes it all to Mike Harris.

Wherever the Liberals go, the financial situation turns sour: British Columbia, now Ontario, the federal government for the last ten years, etc.

Martin should be the last to criticize others over finances - after all, millions and millions of our money disappeared on his watch. How is that for a financial record?

Give it up, Mr. Martin, Canadians can see right through you, and trust me, the Liberals will suffer a bloody defeat on June 28. We all pay for health care through our taxes. In fact, each taxpayer pays up to $3,000 a year into the public health care system. Even many private health insurance policies cost less than that.

Paul Martin is also lying about this and distorting the facts (as usual): he makes people believe that health care is free and "chequebook health care" is just wrong. Well, Mr. Martin, even our system is a "chequebook system", but it's even worse than private health care, because we have waiting lists that force Canadian to either die or pay twice (taxes for public health care PLUS private insurance and/or private surgery).

I'd rather pay about $3,000 less in taxes and put that same amount into a private insurance scheme that guarantees treatment whenever and wherever I need it.

Anyone who still considers voting Liberal should have his head examined.

No more Canadian culture?

Helene Chalifour Scherrer, that stupid cow (um, Heritage Minister) and moronic Liberal, attacked the Conservatives for wanting to reduce the powers of the CRTC.

She keeps speaking about the end to Canadian culture and that our actors, writers, producers, etc. would have nowhere else to go. Well, if our present system is as good as she claims, how come, then, we get to see US shows all the time on our channels? Why have we not moved to a system similar to the one found in the UK by now if the CRTC is soooooooooo effective? Why are our networks nothing but "simulcasters", rather than actual broadcasters?

In a word, that woman is full of baloney. Her days are numbered come June 28. She asks whether this (Conservative) Canada is the kind of Canada we want. Answer: YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

See her speech in full below:

Dear friends, Culture is the vital link that brings Canadians together. Culture also gives us our unique voice in the world. And that is one more reason why Canada's election, two weeks from today, is so important. As the Prime Minister has said, it is about the kind of Canada you want. Do we want a Canada with a strong and vibrant culture?

Or, do we dismantle all of the support systems that we have developed over the years? Do we want Canadian arts and culture to thrive here and around the world? Or do we say: "What the hell, 100% American programming is good enough for Canada, it's good enough for Canada's kids."

I am sure that many of you by now are well aware of the Conservative cultural policies, or should I say, lack thereof.

In simplest terms, they would destroy the CRTC, making it a shadow of its former self and open up our skies to American satellites.

They would restructure the CRTC reducing its mandate to the registration and marketing of bandwidth and to dealing with international communications negotiations. They would also, and I quote directly, negotiate a reciprocity agreement with the United States to create an open market for the licensing of television satellite distribution.

These policies are beyond naive. They ignore the Canadian reality. They ignore your reality.

These kind of policies really scare me and I am sure they scare many of you in this room. In essence, what Stephen Harper and his Party want to do is to give away our cultural sovereignty.

A Conservative Government would essentially signal the end of the Canadian broadcasting system. They would destroy the fundamental elements of our system and would abandon control of our airwaves to big American corporations. Do we want Rupert Murdoch to be in control of our cultural policies?

Speaking of Mr. Murdoch, I know that a lot of you are rightly concerned about the issue of foreign ownership. Stephen Harper's economic philosophy is that the state has absolutely no role in issues like foreign ownership.

I cannot tell you how much I disagree.

On the music side, we would not have a Shania Twain or Celine Dion without the the CRTC. Canada is now the second biggest music exporter in the world with top artists selling $13-billion worldwide.

This says a lot about the kind of talent we have here in Canada, but also points to an environment that is conducive to ensuring domestic and international success. If the CRTC did not have Canadian content requirements on the radio many of our most popular artists would not have been able to achieve the international success that they have enjoyed.

Opening skies would essentially destroy the system we have worked so hard to build. We would not only lose our private broadcasting companies and all the people they employ, but producers, writers, directors, actors and technicians would all face significant job losses as fewer and fewer Canadian programs are being made.

And what will happen to all federal cultural programs? The Conservatives are going to have to find $50 billion to pay for their new aircraft carriers and tax cuts. What will be the impact on the book industry, magazines, music. What will be the impact on the arts, native languages, the official languages? They will disappear. You know it and I know it.

They are going to have to cut and where do you think they are going to start? Look in the mirror. It is going to be with my department and the programs and policies that we have to help you earn your livelihood. The Canadian Television Fund, the Feature Film Fund, Telefilm Canada, the CBC, the National Film Board and tax credits that allow you to ensure that Canadian stories and values are reflected in our movie theatres and on our television screens.

We can also say goodbye to the Canada Council, the National Arts Centre and our other key cultural agencies.

Young [artists] are the future of Canadian culture. They would unfortunately have no future under a Conservative Government led by Stephen Harper.

We will end up being a nation for sale.

Is that the kind of Canada we want?

Steven Harper does not seem to understand that promoting national content through ones radio and television stations is not some outdated left-wing Canadian idea. Stephen Harper has been inspired by American neo-conservative policy ideas. And we believe that the risks to this country are real and serious. But in the area of culture, and I measure my words, it is madness. It is neo-conservative ideology run amok.

This industry and all those who care about Canadian culture need to say enough is enough. That is what this election campaign is all about. He was obnoxious, arrogant, put words in other people's mouths, lied through his teeth, etc.

This is not the kind of person we Canadians want as a Prime Minister.

Stephen Harper was polite and on-issue. Following the "mood-o-meter" of the focus group, it was clear to see that Harper got a whole lot more "green" than any of the other leaders.

Duceppe was a close second. I believe he also scored a lot of points with English Canadians tonight. Hell, I might vote for him if I lived in Québec.

Layton was his usual self: a slimey, used-car salesman with a touch of gameshow host and the annoying characteristics so typical of telemarketers. He got a lot of "red" on the mood-o-meter. He was not at all believable.

As for health care, it has to be said once and for all that no one, stress NO ONE, is advocating a two-tier system. Two-tier, as the name implies, would mean that the public sector would no longer offer certain services that were shifted to private clinics. We are merely talking about private management and delivery of facilities and services UNDER the umbrella of the public health care system. And if someone has enough money and needs treatment badly enough, he or she should be free to select from a number of different options: wait in the public sector for 18 months or longer to have that life-saving surgery or turn to a private provider.

This is a fundamental right of choice relative to the integrity of one's body and person, but the Liberals want to deny us this fundamental right. This is worse than China or the Soviet Union.

Paul Martin, as everyone can see now, is a fumbling, crooked and lying idiot. You'd have to be just as fumbling, crooked and idiotic to vote Liberal on June 28.

Layton out to destroy Canada

Jack Layton, the candidate for the NDP, wants to open our borders to even more immigration, even allowing immigrants to bring EXTENDED family into this country (regardless of whether they would qualify under our immigration points system or not).

Canada already has too many illiterate and anti-social immigrants that should have never been brought in. They are a burden on our health-care system: even now, immigrants and refugees can bring in next-of-kin, such as parents, who are too old to learn English. They will never pay a single penny in taxes, yet they are the majority of patients lining up at emergency rooms.

If we allow extended family to come to Canada as well, our hospitals will collapse under that enormous weight of non-Canadians.

Instead of finding ways to fill this country with even more (unwanted - according to 86% of Canadians polled) immigrants, we should focus on improving the situation of those already here, while ensuring that born Canadians (who speak English and/or French) are not discriminated against.

Charity begins at home. Layton accused Martin of being responsible for the deaths of numerous homeless people in Ontario. Well, if our government had devoted more resources to helping our people, instead of throwing it at immigrants and (fraudulent) refugees, we would not be in this mess.

I will give only one example of what I mean:

I know a coffee shop in Toronto that is overrun by Sri Lankans around the clock. They play cards all day long (consuming next to nothing). Frequently, you will find 20, sometimes 40, of them inside the coffee shop. Paying customers have no way of sitting down and enjoying a quiet cup of coffee.

These people have clearly no jobs to go to; otherwise, they could not sit in a coffee shop 24/7. Sometimes, I would see them shuffle and trade goods from the trunks of their cars right in front of the coffee shop.

Then, one day one of these guys told me that he had bought himself a farm north of Toronto - $160,000 in CASH! With no job and spending all his waking hours at the coffee shop, where does all that money come from?

These are the kinds of criminal and parasitic elements that we, as taxpayers, have to support - thanks to the Liberals. And now the NDP wants to make things even worse for CANADIANS.

Even decent immigrants are fed up with the kinds of people we allow to immigrate to Canada every day. They rightly say that this scum gives them all a bad name.

Shame on the Liberals. Shame on Jack Layton!

Liberals stand for:

- more crime in our cities

- more people allowed to enter Canada that don't even meet the most basic requirements under immigration laws

- corruption and theft in Ottawa

- more taxes

- lies, lies, lies, lies, lies and again lies

- discrimination against English-speaking and French-speaking born Canadians

Liberals are not a party for Canadians

Yesterday, one of the Calgary radio stations (http://www.qr77.com/) had a phone-in show, asking people which of the candidates would make the best leader in a crisis.

The majority of callers cast their votes for Stephen Harper. There was only one caller, with a thick Indian accent, who tried to insult Conservatives and sing the praises for the Liberals. He was cut off because he had a very hard time making himself understood in English (!).

This again shows that the Liberals cater only to non-Canadians. Canadians should therefore vote for the Conservatives to protect Canadian values (such as the fact that Canada has only two official languages, English and French).

A nation of functional illiterates?

The National Post today wrote the following:

"The results aren't guaranteed because a sizeable share of voters did not speak English well enough to take part in the survey but may still vote in the June 28 election."

How is that possible, I ask? How did those people pass the citizenship test? How did they enter Canada in the first place?

We are fast filling up the country with functional illiterates. How can these people be allowed to vote if they cannot even participate in a simple survey (which certainly does not use difficult words or language)?

This is an outrage. As a Canadian I feel slighted by having to share my country with people who make no effort at all to become productive members of our society (which requires a functional level of English).

Recognition of foreign credentials

Kudos to the Conservatives. Indeed, too many immigrants are lured to Canada on promises that they will find ready employment on the basis of their credentials, only to find, once they have landed, that their credentials are worth zilch.

Many of them end up working as janitors, security guards, etc. or turn to criminal activities.

Just one example: a British LLB degree is not recognized in Canada (despite the similarities in our legal systems). A British-trained lawyer would have to re-apply to law school here (in effect, waiting for years to get in, because foreign-trained lawyers are given low priority in assigning places). It would be much simpler if a British lawyer could take a bunch of "upgrade exams" to be recognized.

Tories want to reduce the role of CRTC

This hit the newspapers today. I don't know what the uproar is all about, because as far as the CRTC is concerned, it's ABOUT TIME.

If the CRTC had been an effective regulator, we'd have a system similar to the one found in the UK by now (i.e., networks producing and airing a lot of domestic content) - or like in Australia or New Zealand, for that matter.

Some critics of this Tory move say that we'll end up with a non-Canadian product if the Conservatives allow US satellite providers to sell their services to Canadians.

Well, we don't see much of a Canadian product now. In other words, it can hardly get any worse.

CTV, Global and CHUM fatten their schedules with American content on a regular basis. You really have to look hard to find any Canadian content at all. If a Canadian were to decide to watch Canadian content only, he would be left with watching TV only about two hours in a whole week.

Apart from that, our broadcasters employ a system that actively drives Canadian viewers to US networks. Allow me to illustrate what I mean by giving you an actual example.

Until a few years ago, the WB show 7th Heaven was carried by CTV in Canada (Sundays at 5pm). Because of sports programming, the show got preempted repeatedly. At some point, 7th Heaven was off for a duration of approx. 9 weeks. (Why do they still air sports on CTV and preempt good episodic TV? They have their own sports network, and sports should be shown there and nowhere else!)

Now, 7th Heaven may look like episodic TV, where each episode tells a complete story. This is true for the most part, but there are several ongoing storylines that continue on throughout the season. Miss a few episodes, and you'll be in the dark.

Instead of picking up where they left off nine weeks earlier, CTV decided to drop all those episodes that got preempted and showed the same episode that aired on WB that same week. In effect, Canadian viewers were cheated out of about eight episodes or so.

As a result, Canadian viewers decided to watch 7th Heaven on the originating US network (WB) instead, which resulted in a major ratings loss for CTV. So, by the end of that season, CTV decided to drop the show entirely, which was then picked up by CHUM.

Global TV is also a big offender in this regard (e.g., The Practice). One Global insider told me that this is due to their agreements with US networks: they have to show the same episode as the originating US network that week. If an episode is preempted, the Canadian broadcaster has only two choices: find some other slot in that same week to air the episode or forget about it altogether. In 99% of all cases, they opt for the latter.

Canadian viewers are not stupid. Most of us have access to all six US networks. Because Canadian broadcasters are so unreliable, we watch our favourite shows on the originating US networks. And since we also have timeshifting channels from the States, whose signals are not substituted by cable companies under simulcast rules, we can easily watch our shows without ever seeing any Canadian commercials. Again, we do that, because our own networks are so unreliable and they don't seem to give a hoot about their viewers.

That sort of thing does not happen on British TV. If a show needs to be preempted, they will simply show that episode a week later and show all episodes in the proper sequence.

The CRTC could have stepped in a long time ago, but it has not. Instead, it tacitly agrees to the Canadian broadcasters' idiotic policy of driving more and more viewers to American networks.

So, if the Conservatives want to reduce the role that CRTC plays in Canada, that's fine by me. The average Canadian won't notice any difference.

Oh, and check out the Nielsen ratings for Canada: you will see that about 18 out of the top 20 shows are US shows. How's that for "non-Canadian product"?

Right now, Canadian broadcasters are acting like poor siblings of US networks, without enjoying the full benefits that affiliates normally have. Canadian TV schedules are like a hodgepodge of different TV shows, a little bit of this, a little bit of this, but you'll never get to enjoy a complete season of any TV show (and many episodes are aired out of sequence to boot).

If you want to follow your favourite show from beginning to end, you have no other choice but to watch it on an American station.

The Conservatives have recognized this and under their program, we will get a wider choice in TV land. The consumer wins, and the CRTC gets its long-overdue punishment for sitting on their fat behinds.

Liberals are losing

The Liberals are dropping like flies in opinion polls. In Ontario, the Conservatives are now 10 percentage points ahead of the Liberals.

I think it's looking more and more like a Conservative majority government.

Personally, I am very happy, because it's a sign that Canadians are finally waking up. I was beginning to lose hope and think that Canadians are a bunch of inbred idiots that allow themselves to be defrauded by their own (Liberal) government.

A quick word on Québec: Conservatives are very fond of Québec, because we share many of the same beliefs. We also believe that Ottawa's hold on power across the country needs to be lessened.

Regarding bilingualism: a good Canadian would say that every citizen should be bilingual. If bilingualism is at risk at all, it is thanks to the Liberals' efforts to bring in tons and tons of immigrants and refugees that don't speak any of our official languages. The last ten years have seen a surge of (useless) immigrants who will never become productive members of our society - primarily on account of the fact that they don't speak any of our official languages. And they will never learn them, because they stick to their own kind and don't give a damn about becoming good and decent Canadians.

Multiculturalism was supposed to strengthen the ties between Canadians and various ethnic groups. Thanks to the Liberals we now have a ghettoization of Canada where you don't find a single person who speaks English or French in our biggest cities (especially in Toronto, which has become a huge garbage dump as a result). How are we supposed to grow together more closely if these people cannot communicate with us?

Immigrants and refugees must be admitted to this country in strict observance of the letter of the law. This means that people who don't even meet the most basic language-skill requirements must be disqualified from immigrating to Canada. Period. Immigration law does not have to be changed at all; the only thing that needs to be done is to ensure that immigration officials follow the law.

These marginal groups often scream discrimination, but in Toronto it's English-speaking Canadians who are discriminated against, because you can't even order a cup of coffee or phone your local bank branch without going through an interpreter first. Canada has two official languages, and as such, I would actually demand that all new additions to our citizenry should be required to know both. To settle in Canada is a privilege, not a right. As a naturalized citizen, I think, you have to be even better than a person born here.

Finally, the Charter of Rights and Freedoms needs to be reformed. It is ridiculous and outrageous that every "refugee" who tears up his passport at the airport should be automatically protected under the Charter. The Charter is for people who have a legal status in Canada (born Canadians, naturalized citizens, landed immigrants).

We need to clean up our country, which should also include a closer vetting of people already in the country. Some of the more suspicious files should be revisited.

Losers

Paul Martin said it himself: Les Calgary Flames et les Libéraux, c'est la même chose. At the announcement, he made sure he got a few jabs in at the Conservatives.

He keeps referring to them as Alliance Conservative Party. Well, Paul Martin, who clearly suffers from dementia and derangement, seems to forget that the name of his opponent is the Conservative Party of Canada (CPC). However, if he wishes to use the additional "Alliance", that is fine too. People will then remember what "Alliance" stood for: Canada first!

The Liberals are also in an uproar over Stephen Harper's observation that the Liberal party out west is mostly supported by ethnic Canadians. Hey, Liberals, get a grip on yourselves. He is only telling the truth. Or do you want to deny the fact that a good percentage of Liberal supporters are former refugees and immigrants, whom you bribed into voting Liberal?

For the past 10 years, you have allowed hardened criminals from all over the world to settle in Canada and thrown our tax dollars at them. Since the Liberal party is, in itself, a criminal and corrupt organization, no wonder all those crooks feel right at home within the fold of the Liberal party.

Jean Chrétien was a deranged criminal, and Paul Martin, who is equally demented and deranged, aided and abetted the "Cretin" for most of the latter's reign. But as happens in every Mafia family, sooner or later, the right-hand, go-to-man gets sick and tired of playing second fiddle to the Godfather and wants to have a shot at running the family himself.

What happened next could have been lifted straight from The Sopranos: Jean "Godfather" Chrétien banishes Little Paul and sends him packing (lucky for him: the Godfather could have sent his goons after him, and Little Paul would be sleeping with the fishes by now).

These two, and their various henchmen, are still struggling for control of the "Family". The Godfather Chrétien's goons have been plotting against Little Paul behind the scenes all along - to the extent that they don't seem to care anymore even if they wreck the entire Family; just as long as Little Paul does not get to sit down in the Godfather's chair.

You see, Little Paul had seen the riches that Godfather Jean had amassed: all those wonderful millions and millions of dollars that went straight from Canadian taxpayers' pockets into the Godfather's vault. When the Godfather found Little Paul go skinny-dipping in the vault, he kicked him out.

Now, Little Paul claims that he did not know anything about the Godfather's money vault. It's only too bad that, as he reached for his hanky to wipe the sweat off his forehead, he dropped the key to the money vault that he, supposedly, had no knowledge of.

Godfather Jean, in order to fortify his empire, imported tons and tons of extra help from other corrupt families from around the world. At the time, Little Paul was even sent out into the field to negotiate a deal with the Tamil Tiger Family, a most vicious tribe that kills people just for the fun of it. Little Paul was photographed at that meeting, as he was putting money into the Tiger's warchest to buy new weapons. In return, the Tigers swore allegiance to the Godfather and his Liberal Family, and promised to send more people to help the Liberal Family.

Now, the time of reckoning has come. The public has finally caught on to what the Liberal Family has been up to for the last ten years. Like in Italy, when magistrates launched their major house cleaning years ago to eradicate the Mafia, the Canadian public is now fully poised to do the same right here.

Of course, Little Paul is still desperately trying to convince people that there never was any Liberal Mafia, but to no avail: the evidence is right there in plain view, and Canadians are not (that) stupid.

Well, Little Paul, better start packing your bags and call the moving company, because 24 Sussex Drive will be your home only for a few more weeks ...

Liberal Liars

Have you ever seen a Liberal that isn't a liar? I sure haven't.

Paul Martin now promises that he will not raise taxes if he's re-elected. Gee, that sounds familiar. Wasn't that the same promise McGuinty made in Ontario and that he broke last week? (Among several other promises he has been breaking from the first day he came to power)

Or remember Jean Chrétien: in 1993 he promised to eliminate GST. What was the first item on his agenda at 24 Sussex Drive? To sing the praises of GST.

Liberals are corrupt, criminal, pathological liars - all of them. Paul Martin, on top of that, is also seriously deranged.

Now the Liberals know that they are losing big time, which is why they have resorted to (criminally liable) blackmail and intimidation: they say that if the West does not vote Liberal, they will be shut out of the "corridors of power".

Well, I got news for the Liberals: Alberta is 40% wealthier than the rest of Canada and 10% richer than the U.S. average. Alberta can and will separate from Canada if the situation becomes untenable.

If Alberta separates, Canada will be royally screwed and become a third-world country. It is the West that keeps Canada alive, not Ottawa (as a matter of fact, Ottawa is the main reason why the rest of Canada is doing so badly on all fronts).

On health care and taxes: Paul "Idiot" Martin accuses Stephen Harper of trying to turn Canada into the U.S. Far from it. Martin, apparently, does not know the American system very well; otherwise, he would not be spewing out such uneducated nonsense.

Canadians have been overtaxed for too long. Even under Harper's tax-cutting plan, we would still be a long way from becoming Americans.

Martin wants to invest billions and billions of dollars into health care. He says that his program will help to reduce wait times. We've heard that one before too; anything the Liberals have ever done to the health-care system has been met with utter failure (and longer waiting periods). And where will he find the money for such an enormous investment? Taxes? But he said he wouldn't raise taxes ... . And let's not forget that Martin does not like the taxes individuals and companies have to pay in Canada either. That's why his shipping company is incorporated in Barbados.

Harper, on the other hand, is full of good and practical ideas: for example, he plans to tighten the criminal system by trying young offenders in adult court and eliminating the automatic release of hardened criminals once they have served two-thirds of their sentences. Kudos!

Martin would never do anything to "hurt" his beloved criminals. Under Martin, we'd see even more criminals on our streets (domestic criminals and those imported from other countries).

June 28, folks, will be a historic date: go and vote and send a clear message to the Liberal Liars. Once they have been voted down, the new government should launch a large-scale criminal investigation into Chrétien, Martin and all the other Liberal criminals.

Us versus them

The Liberals are hellbent on preventing this country from becoming America.

They accuse Stephen Harper of being a closet American and similar rubbish.

Now, let's make one thing perfectly clear: Canada is different from the United States and always will be. And the Conservatives are not about to change that either.

American policy on a number of issues (crime, health care, immigration, etc.) has always been one based on common sense. Adopting common-sense programs in Canada does not mean that we're becoming American. These programs represent universal principles of common sense, decency and justice. After all, no one accused the British of becoming American when they decided to tighten their borders.

Keeping criminals in jail is not an exclusively American concept: it is merely common sense - common sense that our Liberals so famously lack. If it were up to them, even multiple rapists and killers would be free to roam the streets and do even more harm.

In fact, Liberals are not content with the number of criminals we have in Canada. This is why they have been importing hardened criminals from other countries as well for the last ten years. It almost seems as if Chrétien was looking for ways to make life for Canadians even harder and more dangerous. This is also why Paul Martin, when he was finance minister, was photographed at a fundraiser for the terrorist Tamil Tigers in Toronto.

In Toronto, I saw plenty of these Tigers. They don't work, sit around malls and coffee shops all day and sell stolen goods from their trunks. They do that in open daylight, because they know that they are protected by the LIberals. One of these people even bought himself a farm north of Toronto last year for $160,000. For someone who does not have a job or speak English, that's quite a feat - given the fact that he paid in cash (!).

The police officers for that district (Division 23) are frustrated over this. They, too, are furious over the Liberal's mollycoddling of these people. There are shootings, stabbings and all sorts of other problems all the time, and the officers are constantly in the line of fire. They (and the rest of us) only have Chrétien and his ilk to thank for that.

So, to go with common sense and implement certain programs and rules accordingly is not tantamount to the Americanization of Canadian society. It will only help to make this country a better place - the kind of place it once was before Chrétien and his Liberals (the crooks) took over.

Honestly, if Chrétien had never made it into college and subsequently into politics, he would have become a common street criminal. He still turned out a criminal, but, to the detriment of us all, at a much higher level.

Lawsuit against McGuinty

The Canadian Taxpayers' Federation (CTF) has brought a lawsuit against Dalton McGuinty for breach of contract.

In fact, he signed a contract saying that if he were elected, he would not raise taxes without consulting the voters first. In fact, the provinces are both constitutionally and financially responsible for providing health, education and welfare. The feds have some responsibilities in this area but the buck stops with the provincial legislatures and premiers.

But you'd never know it because of a game played for years by successive federal governments. For instance, the Chretien government took huge sums away from the provinces by cutting equalization payments just so it could balance federal books. Then, having done so and benefiting from taxation windfalls, it began to hand back to the provinces some of the billions it withheld. This allowed the Liberals to misrepresent themselves as the Saviours of Health Care.

Right on: indeed, the Liberals have made it their game to claim responsibility for things done by provincial (Conservative) governments. What else is new? Liberals are frauds and liars.

Health care should not be a game. It is growing into a monster and problems should be addressed immediately, from the policy of unnecessarily open-ended immigration to the woes of health-care rigor mortis and an ageing population.

If the Conservatives win on June 28, which I believe will be the case, the newly crowned government should immediately embark on the following reforms:

1. Canadian taxpayers should file separate income tax returns to both levels of government, as businesses have always done. That way, they will fully understand who collects and pays for what.

That's a good idea, but the current tax return, I think, already makes that quite clear.

This is what the Tories did when they replaced the hidden and economically damaging manufacturers' sales tax with the GST. People may not like the GST, or PST, but at least the blame is fairly placed where it belongs.

2. Health-care costs should be collected as a payroll tax by the provinces, on an individual basis, so that people realize that our health-care system is far from "free." This is what the Americans and Europeans do. This means paycheques would include deductions for federal income tax, health-care tax and provincial income tax.

True. Canadians believe that their universal health care is free, which it is not. In fact, the money that we, as taxpayers, pay into health care is actually more than any private health insurance policy would cost.

3. Discipline must be imposed on the health-care system. Without user fees, patients have been free to over-demand and doctors or others free to over-service. This is the basic flaw of the Canadian health-care system and why it will, if left unbridled, ruin the economy over time.

(There are other disciplined schemes which could be considered, such as the creation of a health credit system like Singapore's or making health care usage a taxable benefit.)

4. Ottawa must free the provinces to innovate, providing basic care is available for all. They should be able to outsource to save money as well as to create a parallel system for wealthy people who want fancier add-ons. This would be no different than the right enjoyed by parents to send their children to private elementary or secondary schools. Such parents save the educational system a bundle because their tax dollars contribute to the public system, but their children don't cost that system anything because they're not there.

5. Canada must require immigrants to self-insure their dependents for at least the first 10 years in the country so they are not a burden on the health or welfare systems. This is what many other developed nations require.

And it's a good system. Look at the hospitals in Toronto: at least 90% of patients are people with immigrant or refugee status (and they don't speak English either). They drag their entire clan into Canada and then expect us to foot the bill. No way, José! And once health care is no longer "free" to these people, perhaps, we'd see fewer of them coming into Canada. Britain has toughened up its immigration and refugee rules and now has experienced a drastic drop in applications as a result.

For example, since 1986, Ottawa has opened the doors to tens of thousands of elderly, sponsored immigrant-dependents who have never contributed a cent in taxes and likely never will. They become an immediate and huge burden on the health and welfare systems without any payback.

Yes, they never will contribute anything to Canada. They also refuse to learn English and become productive members of our society. They should all be deported.

Do the arithmetic. Each person over 65 costs an average of $4,700 annually and the Chretien government approved as many as 20,000 sponsored parents and grandparents of immigrants every year.

This downloading of costs is highly hypocritical and another cynical game played by the feds. Ottawa immigration advertises provincial health, education and welfare benefits to entice recruits but denies sponsored, elderly immigrants Old Age Security entitlements itself. Like health care in general and other areas, the fed game is to impose burdens on the provinces but take all the credit or else to duck their responsibilities and then blame the provinces for not doing what the feds should have done in the first place.

This nonsense represents the biggest single governance issue facing Canadians going forward. For years, this federal empire-building and gamesmanship has done a great disservice, and must stop. Canada must prune its federal government to its traditional role and restructure the governmental hierarchy into a non-competitive confederation.

This will protect, not destroy, the social safety net because it will partially eliminate the unnecessary, costly and meddlesome middleman in Ottawa.

© National Post 2004

I am a firm believer in less government.

Canadians want two-tier health care

http://www.canada.com/national/nationalpost/news/story.html?id=75f6cbe4-6da5-4c84-9e8a-17e447c651ca

Well, of course!
